Department of Education must create a uniform, statewide identification badge for noninstructional contractors who have met background screening requirements and are permitted on school grounds when students are present

School districts shall issue the photograph-bearing badge to contractors who are U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens, at least 18 years old, and meet background screening requirements

The identification badge is valid for 5 years and must be visible at all times while the contractor is on school grounds; contractors must return the badge within 48 hours if they notify the school district per subsection (6)

Department of Education shall determine a uniform cost for the badge that all school districts may charge contractors, with the cost borne by the contractor receiving the badge

The badge shall be recognized by all school districts statewide; exemption applies to contractors exempt from background screening requirements under section 1012.468; effective date is July 1, 2012
