Amends the definition of "contractor" in Florida Statutes to specify that "maintain for purposes of water treatment" applies only to cleaning, maintenance, and water treatment of swimming pools and spas.

Revises scope of work for three pool/spa contractor classifications: Commercial pool/spa contractors, Residential pool/spa contractors, and Swimming pool/spa servicing contractors, clarifying what work requires licensure versus what does not.

Adds new eligibility requirement for swimming pool/spa servicing contractor licensure examination: applicants must complete 60 hours of classroom instruction and 20 hours of in-field, hands-on instruction approved by the Construction Industry Licensing Board, plus have 1 year of proven experience (removing previous experience requirement).

Allows active certified residential swimming pool contractors to take the commercial swimming pool contractors' examination with a minimum of 1 year of proven experience in their classification.

Effective date: October 1, 2013.
