Requires each district school board to organize and elect a chair in November of each year.

In election years, the chair election date must coincide with general election requirements under s. 100.041(3)(a).

Does not apply to school districts where the board chair is elected by districtwide vote.

Maintains existing provisions allowing boards to elect a vice chair and requiring the superintendent to serve as secretary and temporary chair until organization is completed.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
