Individual scuba divers are exempt from obtaining personal fishing licenses when aboard a vessel operated for hire if the vessel operator maintains the appropriate vessel license based on passenger capacity and any applicable permits.

Scuba divers taking or attempting to take saltwater products must obtain individual fishing licenses and permits if the vessel operator does not hold the appropriate license.

Applies to vessels that carry scuba divers for a fee, whether the fee is charged directly or indirectly.

Amends section 379.354 of the Florida Statutes regarding recreational licenses, permits, and authorization numbers.

Effective date: July 1, 2012.
