HB 4135 Summary

• Deletes provisions in Florida Statutes section 1003.03 that required funding reductions for school districts exceeding maximum class size limits
• Removes the accountability mechanisms that calculated and imposed financial penalties on districts that failed to meet class size requirements based on October student membership surveys
• Eliminates the complex funding reduction formulas that multiplied excess FTE students by district allocation amounts and base student allocations
• Repeals provisions allowing the Commissioner of Education to withhold or reallocate class size categorical funds from non-compliant districts
• Takes effect July 1, 2012
