HB 4181 Summary

• Deletes the statutory definition of "certified health care provider" from section 440.13, F.S., and removes provisions allowing the department to remove physicians from authorized provider lists.

• Eliminates requirements that physicians be certified by the department or have agreements with managed care organizations before rendering workers' compensation medical services.

• Removes the entire subsection (13) that detailed grounds for removing physicians from authorization lists, including misconduct, incompetency, overutilization, and self-referral violations.

• Updates cross-references in section 440.102 to reflect the renumbering and deletion of subsections related to health care provider definitions.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
