HB 7075: Military Installations

• Authorizes the Florida Defense Support Task Force to recommend changes to military installations and local governments under the Community Planning Act, and clarifies procedures for information exchange between military installations and local governments.

• Creates the Military Base Protection Program within the Department of Economic Opportunity to address emergent needs relating to mission sustainment and base retention using appropriated funds.

• Establishes the Florida Defense Reinvestment Grant Program to support activities that protect existing military installations and diversify the economies of defense-dependent communities, replacing five eliminated predecessor grant programs.

• Transfers all functions, duties, records, personnel, and funds from the Florida Council on Military Base and Mission Support to the Florida Defense Support Task Force within the Department of Economic Opportunity via type two transfer.

• Effective date is July 1, 2012, except for certain provisions regarding transfers and repeals which take effect immediately upon enactment.
