HB 7091 Summary

• Eliminates insurance mandates requiring payment to chiropractors for services within their scope of practice by repealing provisions that required such coverage.

• Repeals multiple health care coverage mandates including requirements for bone marrow transplants, acupuncture benefits, home health care services, massage therapy, mental and nervous disorder coverage, autism spectrum disorder coverage, and cleft lip/palate treatment.

• Amends provider network requirements to eliminate mandates that therapists, counselors, psychologists, and certain psychiatric nurses be included in insurance provider networks.

• Updates cross-references throughout Florida Statutes to conform with repealed sections and maintains optometrist coverage and certain limited coverage requirements that survive repeal.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2012.
