Jennifer Lauren Berrian, 17-year-old daughter of Pastor Tobbie and Mrs. Sharon Berrian, was elected Governor of Girls State in 2011 by 300 peers in the Florida American Legion Auxiliary leadership program.

Berrian was selected as one of two Florida delegates to represent the state at American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation in Washington, D.C., and was elected President of Girls Nation on July 27, 2011, leading 98 young women representing 49 states.

As the third national president from Florida since the program's inception in 1947, Berrian served as a role model and gained experience in government operations including election oversight, bill writing, legislative sessions, and meetings with President Barack Obama and U.S. Senators.

Berrian is a High Honor Roll senior at James S. Rickards High School in the International Baccalaureate Program, serving as President of the National Honor Society Chapter, Vice President of Model United Nations and Junior Achievement, member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Volunteer of the Year.

The House of Representatives recognizes and congratulates Jennifer Lauren Berrian for her election as Girls State Governor and Girls Nation President, along with her distinguished academic accomplishments.
