Authorizes Lee Memorial Health System to appropriate $15 million as compensation to the Guardianship of Aaron Edwards for injuries sustained due to medical negligence during his birth on September 5, 2007.

Funds are to be placed in a special needs trust created exclusively for the benefit of Aaron Edwards, a minor, who suffered permanent brain injuries resulting in cerebral palsy and quadriparesis.

The $15 million payment combined with the $200,000 already paid by Lee Memorial under statutory liability limits provides sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the incident.

Limits attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses to no more than 25 percent of the $15 million amount awarded under this act.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
