Department of Children and Family Services shall request up to $180,000 annually in its legislative budget to replenish Angela Sozzani's special needs trust for her placement costs and medical care and treatment.

Department may request additional funds exceeding the $180,000 limit under extraordinary circumstances to support Angela Sozzani's placement and medical costs.

Upon Angela Sozzani's death, remaining trust proceeds shall first satisfy the Medicaid lien and any amounts owed under the lien, with the remainder reverting to the General Revenue Fund.

Angela Sozzani sustained severe brain injury from a near-drowning incident in April 2002 while in foster care, resulting in permanent dependence on 24-hour medical care with life expectancy of 20 to 30 years.

Attorney's fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses have not been awarded as Angela Sozzani's attorneys provided pro bono representation.
