CS for SB 382 - Pari-Mutuel Wagering

• Beginning in fiscal year 2012-2013, greyhound permitholders are no longer required to conduct a minimum number of live performances to maintain their licenses or qualify for tax credits.

• Greyhound permitholders may receive licenses to conduct pari-mutuel wagering activities at their facilities without conducting live racing, and may amend applications through August 31, 2012.

• Permitholders unable to utilize full tax exemptions ($360,000 or $500,000) may transfer unused exemptions or credits to host greyhound tracks for intertrack wagering, with forfeited exemptions pooled among permitholders conducting at least 100 live performances.

• Slot machine licenses may be issued to eligible facilities outside Miami-Dade and Broward counties if the county places a slot machine referendum question on the ballot by January 31, 2012, but gaming cannot commence before July 7, 2015.

• Greyhound permitholders may maintain or renew cardroom licenses without meeting minimum live performance requirements, and cardroom purse supplements are only required when live racing is conducted during a fiscal year.
