Excludes sworn state-certified law enforcement officers selected by their agency's chief executive officer from the definition of "911 public safety telecommunicator" when they perform on an occasional or limited basis.

Allows sworn state-certified law enforcement officers who pass the department's competency examination to perform occasionally as public safety telecommunicators without completing the required public safety telecommunication training program.

Waives application fees and examination fees for sworn state-certified law enforcement officers taking the competency examination under this provision.

Requires sworn state-certified law enforcement officers who fail the examination to complete a 40-hour public safety telecommunication training program or an approved equivalent before retaking the examination.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
