Permanently exempts social security numbers and property identifiers contained in unclaimed property reports held by the Department of Financial Services from public records disclosure under Florida law.

Eliminates the previous provision that allowed release of social security numbers to attorneys, certified public accountants, licensed private investigators, and private investigative agencies for locating owners of abandoned or unclaimed property.

Establishes that the exemption applies retroactively to social security numbers and property identifiers held by the department before, on, or after the effective date of the exemption.

Subjects the exemption to the Open Government Sunset Review Act with a repeal date of October 2, 2017, unless the Legislature reenacts it.

Provides that protection of social security numbers from unclaimed property records is necessary to prevent identity theft and fraudulent claims for unclaimed property, and to protect the State School Fund.
