Amends Florida law to create an exception for offenders convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon who have prior convictions for felonies listed in s. 775.084(1)(b)1.

Requires a 10-year minimum sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon offenders if they previously committed or attempted to commit a listed felony while actually possessing a firearm or destructive device.

Maintains existing minimum sentences: 3 years for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, or burglary of a conveyance; 10 years for other listed felonies; 20 years if a firearm or destructive device was discharged; and 25 years to life if discharge caused death or great bodily harm.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
