Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, in conjunction with the Department of Education, shall conduct a study on career-technical high school courses that are equivalent to standard required courses.

Study must examine the feasibility of offering alternative career-technical courses with equivalent rigor that students could substitute for standard required courses to achieve a high school diploma.

Study shall identify course requirements and overlapping standards between career-technical and standard courses, and assess potential use of career academies, internships, the Florida Ready to Work Certification Program, and other career and technical education programs.

Study shall build upon information from Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability Report No. 11-05 and include a timeframe for implementing career-technical curriculum options if feasible.

Results must be submitted to the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives by December 1, 2013.
