CS/HB 223 Summary

• Authorizes insurers to post property and casualty insurance policies and endorsements on their Internet website instead of mailing or delivering them to insureds, provided the policies do not contain personally identifiable information.

• Requires insurers posting policies online to maintain easy accessibility for active policies and archive expired policies for at least 5 years upon request.

• Mandates policies be posted in a format allowing insureds to print and save documents using widely available free software.

• Requires insurers to notify insureds of their right to receive paper or electronic copies of policies and endorsements at no charge when issuing initial policies, renewals, or policy form changes.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
