CS/HB 399 Summary

• Amends section 23.1225 to explicitly authorize Florida College System institution police officers to enter into mutual aid agreements with law enforcement agencies for voluntary cooperation and assistance across jurisdictional lines.

• Amends section 316.640 to grant Florida College System institution police officers authority to enforce all traffic laws on or within 1,000 feet of college property and facilities, or within specified jurisdictional areas agreed upon in mutual aid agreements, including off-campus enforcement during hot pursuit.

• Amends section 1012.88 to expand the arrest authority of Florida College System institution police officers to include violations occurring on college property, within 1,000 feet of college property, or within jurisdictional areas established by mutual aid agreements with law enforcement agencies.

• Effective date: July 1, 2013.
