HB 409 Summary

• Health insurers and health maintenance organizations must provide policyholders and subscribers with a current list of preferred or network providers available for public inspection during regular business hours at their principal office in the state.

• Policyholders, certificateholders, and subscribers must be allowed to continue using any provider listed on the enrollment date's preferred or network provider list for at least 1 year after enrollment.

• Health insurers and health maintenance organizations must pay terminated providers without cause for covered services rendered to patients who continued using those providers during the minimum 1-year period, using the terms of the provider contract effective on the termination date.

• Effective date is October 1, 2013.
