CS/HB 529 Summary

• Adds new exemption to public records requirements for current and former Department of Health personnel whose duties include investigation or prosecution of health care practitioner complaints or inspection of licensed practitioners and facilities.

• Exempts from disclosure the home addresses, telephone numbers, photographs, places of employment, and dates of birth of these health department personnel and their spouses and children.

• Exempts the names and locations of schools and day care facilities attended by the children of such personnel.

• Requires personnel to make reasonable efforts to protect such information from public accessibility through other means available to the public.

• Exemption subject to Open Government Sunset Review Act and scheduled to automatically repeal on October 2, 2018, unless the Legislature reenacts it; exemptions for other covered personnel types sunset on October 2, 2017.
