Reorganizes and amends fee structure in section 401.34, F.S., redirecting certain fees from the Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund to the Emergency Medical Services Trust Fund for department salaries and expenses related to emergency medical services.

Establishes specific nonrefundable license fees for emergency medical services organizations, including basic life support ($660 biennial), advanced life support ($1,375 biennial), and air ambulance services ($1,375 biennial).

Sets certification and renewal fees for individual emergency medical technicians ($40 exam, $35 original certificate, $20 renewal) and paramedics ($40 exam, $45 original certificate, $45 renewal) deposited into the Medical Quality Assurance Trust Fund.

Authorizes the Department of Financial Services to defend claims, suits, actions, or proceedings involving injunctive, affirmative, or declaratory relief against consultants and their officers or employees for emergency interventions on behalf of impaired practitioners when acts or omissions arise from contractual duties.

Effective date: July 1, 2013.
