North Broward Hospital District is authorized to pay $608,554.78 to Charles Pandrea as compensation for the death of his wife Janet Pandrea resulting from medical negligence.

Janet Pandrea died on April 2, 2002, after being misdiagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma when she actually had a benign thymoma; she received harmful chemotherapy based on the misdiagnosis.

A Broward County jury returned a verdict against North Broward Hospital District on June 8, 2005, with a final judgment of $808,554.78 entered on June 15, 2005.

The hospital district has already paid the statutory limit of $200,000 under Florida Statutes section 768.28; this bill authorizes payment of the remaining judgment amount.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses relating to this claim are limited to 25 percent of the amount awarded under this act.
