Adds subsection (8) to section 68.083, Florida Statutes to make complaints and information held by the Department of Legal Affairs confidential and exempt from public records requirements during false claims investigations under section 68.082.

Exemption expires October 2, 2018, unless the Legislature reviews and reenacts it under the Open Government Sunset Review Act.

Allows the Department of Legal Affairs to disclose exempt information to law enforcement agencies or other administrative agencies in performance of official duties.

Information becomes public once an investigation is completed or ceases to be active, unless disclosure would jeopardize another active investigation, reveal investigative techniques, or expose trade secrets.

Effective date is contingent upon HB 935 or similar legislation taking effect in the same legislative session and becoming law.
