Lee County Tourist Development Council shall be composed of nine members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Lee County, replacing previous statutory composition requirements.

Council membership includes the chair of the Board of County Commissioners (or designee), two elected municipal officials serving 2-year terms, and six tourism industry members involved in tourist development.

One municipal official must be from one of the two municipalities generating the highest tourist tax revenues in the previous 2 fiscal years, with both municipal seats rotating every 2 years.

Of the six tourism industry members, between three and four must be owners or operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations subject to the tax.

All council members must be county electors; composition changes took effect July 1, 2013, without interrupting current members' terms except for the two municipal members appointed on that date.
