Require all residential rental agreements to specify whether renters' insurance is required of the tenant.

If renters' insurance is required, the rental agreement must specify the coverage required and include a signature line for the tenant; the requirement is not enforceable unless the tenant signs the signature line.

If renters' insurance is not required, the rental agreement must include a statement advising the tenant that renters' insurance is not required but strongly recommended to cover damage to or loss of personal property.

Effective date is July 1, 2013.
