Mandates associate in arts degree programs include 30 semester hours of general education coursework, with the 6 hours of U.S. history requirement incorporated into that total.

Mandates baccalaureate degree programs include 30 semester hours of general education coursework, with the 6 hours of U.S. history requirement, unless prior approval is granted by the Board of Governors or State Board of Education.

Requires students earning associate in arts degrees at state universities to complete the same 30 semester hours of general education coursework, including 6 semester hours of U.S. history at the lower-division level.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
