School districts may levy additional millage for operational purposes in the 2013-2014 fiscal year by a super majority vote of the district school board, rather than requiring a local referendum or general election.

The combined total of additional millage and nonvoted millage levied under state statute cannot exceed the 10-mill constitutional limit.

This provision temporarily overrides existing law in s. 1011.71(9), Florida Statutes, which normally requires a local referendum or general election to levy additional operational millage.

The act becomes effective July 1, 2013.
