Repeals s. 790.338, F.S., which previously protected medical privacy concerning firearms.

Deletes provisions from s. 381.026 that prohibited health care providers from inquiring about firearm ownership unless relevant to medical care or safety, and that allowed patients to decline to answer such questions.

Deletes prohibitions on discrimination and harassment by health care providers based on a patient's firearm ownership or possession.

Adds new provisions to s. 381.026 allowing health care providers to ask about firearm ownership if in good faith they believe it is relevant to patient medical care or safety, and prohibiting discrimination based solely on firearm ownership.

Amends s. 456.072 to remove references to the repealed firearm privacy statute as grounds for disciplinary action against health care providers.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
