Recognizes March 27, 1513, as the date when Ponce de León and his crew first sighted an unknown island, which historians identified as the first-recorded sighting of the Florida coastline.

Documents that Ponce de León landed on present-day Florida between April 3 and April 8, 1513, at a location just north of St. Augustine in Ponte Vedra Beach, based on a latitude reading of 30 degrees, 8 minutes.

Notes that Ponce de León named the newly discovered land "La Florida" in recognition of the lush foliage and the recent Spanish Easter celebration (Pascua Florida or Festival of Flowers).
