North Broward Hospital District must appropriate and pay $608,554.78 to Charles Pandrea as compensation for the death of his wife Janet Pandrea resulting from medical negligence.

Janet Pandrea died on April 2, 2002, after being misdiagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (when she actually had a benign thymoma) and receiving chemotherapy that caused fatal complications.

A Broward County jury returned a verdict against North Broward Hospital District on June 8, 2005, with final judgment of $808,554.78; the district has already paid $200,000 under Florida's statutory cap.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses related to this claim are capped at 25 percent of the amount awarded under this act.

The combined payments from the statutory limit and this appropriation constitute sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from Janet Pandrea's death.
