Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, parents or guardians of students entering grade 6 must be provided information on human papillomavirus vaccination as recommended by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

The Department of Health must approve all information for dissemination by the Department of Education.

Required information must include the connection between human papillomavirus and cervical cancer as well as other cancers and diseases.

Parents or guardians must be notified that a vaccine is available to prevent human papillomavirus infection and that completion of the vaccination process is recommended before the student enters grade 7.
