Department of Education shall create a uniform, statewide identification badge for noninstructional contractors who meet background screening requirements under section 1012.467.

School districts must issue badges bearing a contractor's photograph to those who are U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens, at least 18 years old, and pass background screening.

Identification badges must be worn and visible at all times contractors are on school grounds and shall be recognized by all school districts statewide.

Badges are valid for 5 years; contractors must return badges to the issuing school district within 48 hours if they provide required notification per subsection (6).

Department of Education determines a uniform cost for badges, charged to and borne by the contractor; exemption applies to contractors exempt from background screening under section 1012.468.
