Prohibits utilities from terminating gas or electric service for senior citizens or low-income families for nonpayment on days when the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures of 40°F or below, or 90°F or above, plus the following 2 calendar days.

Prohibits utilities from terminating gas or electric service for senior citizens or low-income families for nonpayment on any day immediately preceding a holiday or weekend when extreme temperatures (40°F or below, or 90°F or above) are forecasted.

Applies only when the gas or electric service is the sole means by which the residence is heated or cooled.

Applies to service areas where the National Weather Service issues the extreme temperature forecast.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
