SB 760 Summary

• Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability, in conjunction with the Department of Education, shall conduct a study on identifying or creating career-technical high school courses with provable equivalency to standard required courses.

• Study must examine the feasibility of offering alternative high school courses toward career-technical education and workforce development that could substitute for standard required courses to provide multiple pathways for students.

• Study shall analyze potential for courses to be credited toward national industry certifications identified in the Industry Certification Funding List and provide workforce readiness.

• Study must identify overlapping requirements between career-technical courses and standard high school courses, and evaluate use of career academies, internships, Florida Ready to Work Certification Program, and other career/technical education programs.

• Office shall submit study results to the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives by December 1, 2013.
