Amends Florida Statutes Section 768.136 to include public schools in the definition of "donor" for purposes of liability protection when distributing canned or perishable food free of charge.

Authorizes public schools to donate food to charitable or nonprofit organizations if the school complies with food protection, storage, handling, and transport requirements established by the district school board.

Requires school principal approval before a public school may donate food to charitable or nonprofit organizations.

Extends liability protections to public schools that donate food in compliance with district food safety requirements, similar to protections previously available to other food donors.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
