Creates exemption from public meeting requirements for portions of criminal justice commission meetings where active criminal intelligence or investigative information is discussed.

Defines "duly constituted criminal justice commission" as an advisory commission created by municipal or county ordinance with mixed private and public sector membership to examine local criminal justice issues.

Requires commissions to publicly disclose at any open meeting that exempt matters have been discussed, despite closing that portion to the public.

Makes exemption subject to sunset review and automatic repeal on October 2, 2018, unless the Legislature reenacts the provision.

Effective July 1, 2013.
