Adds a new factor for pretrial detention allowing courts to deny bail to defendants previously sentenced as prison releasee reoffenders, habitual violent felony offenders, three-time violent felony offenders, or violent career criminals, or when the state attorney files notice seeking such sentencing.

Requires courts to determine whether a defendant is required to register as a sexual offender under s. 943.0435 or sexual predator under s. 775.21 when considering bail eligibility.

Prohibits release on bail or surety bond for defendants required to register as sexual offenders or predators (except those charged only with misdemeanor traffic offenses) until the first appearance on the case.

Amends existing pretrial detention criteria in s. 907.041 to add consideration of sexual offender registration status and previous violent offender designations.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
