Allows school principals and district superintendents to designate certain school district personnel to carry concealed weapons or firearms on school property while performing official school duties, with requirements for proof of specialized training.

Exempts designated school district personnel from firearm possession prohibitions on school property under s. 790.115, but limits the exception to concealed carry only during official duties.

Authorizes district school boards to commission one or more school safety officers for each school campus for protection of school personnel, property, and students.

Updates cross-references in background screening, criminal offense severity rankings, and educator disqualification statutes to reflect new section numbering for school firearm offenses.

Takes effect July 1, 2013.
