Changes certified registered nurse anesthetists' practice requirement from "protocol approved by" to "protocol established in collaboration with" the medical staff of the facility where anesthetic services are performed.

Modifies the process for determining appropriate anesthesia type from requiring "consent of the responsible physician" to requiring determination "in collaboration with" the responsible physician.

Maintains all existing functions and procedures that certified registered nurse anesthetists may perform, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, monitoring, life support during anesthesia, and postanesthesia recovery management.

Effective date is July 1, 2013.
