CS for SB 1762 - State Technology

• Creates Department of State Technology as an executive agency under the Governor with a Secretary (Chief Information Officer) confirmed by the Senate to replace the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology.

• Establishes Technology Advisory Council with nine members appointed by Governor, Cabinet, House Speaker, and Senate President to provide recommendations on enterprise IT policies and services.

• Organizes department into divisions of Information Management and Enterprise Information Technology Services, plus offices of Information Security and Strategic Planning, with multiple Deputy Chief Information Officers assigned to state agency groups.

• Transfers Technology Program from Department of Management Services and powers, duties, and funds of Agency for Enterprise Information Technology to new Department of State Technology, effective January 1, 2014.

• Repeals sections on state data center system and previous shared resource centers (Northwood and Southwood); creates Fletcher Shared Resource Center within Department of Financial Services to provide IT services and co-location for Department of Legal Affairs and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
