District school boards must hold at least one regular meeting each month for business transactions according to a board-arranged schedule.

Board must convene at least one regular meeting during evening hours each quarter during the school year and establish written criteria for deciding when to hold these evening meetings.

District school boards are deemed in compliance if they maintain and operate under a policy requiring the public comment portion of regular meetings to begin no earlier than 4:30 p.m.

Special meetings may be called by the district school superintendent, the board chair, or a majority of board members, with actions at special meetings having the same force and effect as regular meetings.

Act takes effect July 1, 2014.
