CS/HB 211 Summary

• Establishes the Community Health Worker Task Force within a Florida College System institution or state university, with the Department of Health providing administrative support.

• Defines community health workers as front-line health care workers serving as liaisons between health services and underserved communities, performing activities including health education, advocacy, care coordination, and data collection.

• Task force consists of 12 members: one state senator, one state representative, one governor-appointed state official, and nine culturally diverse community health workers appointed by the State Surgeon General.

• Task force shall develop recommendations for integrating community health workers into Medicaid reform efforts, health care system navigation assistance, and safety net provider delivery teams, and recommend standardization of qualifications and skills.

• Task force must submit report by June 30, 2015, to the Governor and Legislature; section automatically repeals December 1, 2015.
