HM 281 - Keystone XL Pipeline Memorial

• Urges the President of the United States to issue final approval for construction and completion of the Keystone XL pipeline project.

• States that Florida consumes approximately 26 million gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel daily and 9.5 billion gallons annually, with multiple industries dependent on reliable and affordable petroleum products.

• Claims the Keystone XL pipeline will transport more than 800,000 barrels of crude oil per day to 57 Gulf state refineries and replace oil from unstable regions with oil from Canada.

• Contends that pipelines are safer and more cost-effective than other transport methods and that the project has received bipartisan congressional support, including a letter signed by 53 Senators.

• Requires copies of the memorial be sent to the President, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House, and all members of the Florida delegation to Congress.
