CS/CS/HB 303 Summary

• Adds new definition of "advertise" to include marketing child care services through online message boards, vehicle signs, newspaper advertisements, roadside signs, flyers, posters, and radio/television announcements.

• Requires family day care homes to conspicuously display their license or registration in the common area and provide proof of a written plan identifying a designated substitute operator who meets screening and training requirements.

• Requires large family child care homes to permanently post their license in a conspicuous location visible to all parents, guardians, and the Department of Children and Families.

• Prohibits advertising of child care facilities, family day care homes, or large family child care homes unless they include the state or local agency license number, exemption number, or registration number in the advertisement; violation is a first-degree misdemeanor.

• Effective date is July 1, 2014.
