CS/HB 419 Summary

• Creates public records exemption for identifying information of current and former Department of Health personnel whose duties involve determining eligibility for social security disability benefits, investigating or prosecuting health care practitioner complaints, or inspecting health care facilities and practitioners

• Protects home addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, photographs, and places of employment of covered Department of Health personnel, as well as the same information for their spouses and children

• Exempts names and locations of schools and day care facilities attended by children of covered personnel from public records requirements

• Exemption subject to Open Government Sunset Review Act and will be repealed on October 2, 2019, unless reauthorized by the Legislature

• Bill takes effect upon becoming law, finding that release of such information could endanger personnel and family members from disgruntled individuals affected by their official actions
