Authorizes municipalities and counties to require one electrical journeyman with a certificate of competency to be present on industrial or commercial new construction sites of 50,000 gross square feet or more when electrical work exceeding 98 volts is performed.

The required journeyman must possess either a certificate of competency issued by the municipality or county based on passing a competency examination, or be licensed pursuant to section 489.5335.

The journeyman's presence is required to supervise or perform electrical work, with exceptions allowed under section 489.503.

Amends section 489.537, Florida Statutes, regarding application of electrical contracting regulations and municipal and county authority.

Takes effect July 1, 2014.
