Board of Professional Engineers composition remains 11 members (9 licensed engineers, 2 laypersons) with professional or technical engineering societies permitted to submit nominee lists for Governor consideration.

Board member terms staggered beginning July 1, 2014 with 3 members appointed for 2 years, 4 for 3 years, and 4 for 4 years; subsequent appointments are 4-year terms.

Applicants who fail fundamentals or principles and practice examinations are allowed 3 attempts, with 2 additional attempts granted if delayed due to military service before requiring additional education or review courses.

Licensure by endorsement standards simplified to recognize applicants with 15 years valid out-of-state license plus 20 years experience, or doctorate in engineering with appropriate academic credentials or full-time teaching experience.

Continuing education requirements for license renewal increased from 4 to 9 hours per year (18 hours total per renewal period) with 1 hour on chapter/rules, 1 hour on ethics, 4 hours on licensee's practice area, and remaining hours on any engineering-related topic; effective March 1, 2015.
