HB 1295 Summary

• Amends chapter 87-471, Laws of Florida to create special zone exceptions for liquor licensing in downtown Jacksonville covering Northside West, Northside East, Southbank, and Urban Transition areas.

• Authorizes the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco to issue a special alcoholic beverage license to Casbah Cafe located at 3628 Saint Johns Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32205, notwithstanding standard seating and space requirements under Florida Statutes s. 561.20(1).

• Requires Casbah Cafe license to comply with conditions including serving full-course meals regularly, maintaining accommodations for 100 or more patrons at tables, occupying at least 1,800 square feet of floor space, and deriving no less than 51 percent of gross annual income from food sales consumed on premises.

• Subjects the special license to local zoning distance requirements between liquor-serving establishments, churches, and schools, and all applicable state alcoholic beverage laws.

• Becomes effective upon passage into law.
