Mark T. Sawicki was struck by a City of Tallahassee solid waste collection vehicle on October 2, 2009, while stopped on his bicycle at the intersection of Call Street and North Monroe Street, sustaining multiple fractures, a torn urethra, and neurological damage resulting in a dropped foot.

City of Tallahassee is authorized to pay $700,000 to Mark T. Sawicki and his wife, Sharon L. Sawicki, as compensation for injuries and damages resulting from city employee negligence.

The city has already paid $200,000 under statutory liability limits in Florida Statutes section 768.28, with this $700,000 payment bringing the total settlement to $900,000.

Attorney fees, lobbying fees, costs, and similar expenses relating to this claim may not exceed 25 percent of the $700,000 amount awarded.

This compensation is intended as the sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from the October 2, 2009 incident involving Mark T. Sawicki.
