CS/HB 7027 - Sexual Offenses Summary

• Removes time limitations on prosecution of lewd or lascivious battery/molestation offenses when the victim was under 16 years old, with exception if offender was under 18 and no more than 4 years older than victim.

• Increases penalties for sexual battery and lewd/lascivious offenses by raising felony degrees and creating new offense categories based on victim age and circumstances.

• Mandates 50-year minimum sentence for dangerous sexual felony offenders (previously 25 years) when offense committed on or after October 1, 2014.

• Expands voyeurism definition to include secretly observing another person's intimate areas in locations where they have reasonable expectation of privacy, including public or private dwellings.

• Requires split sentences with supervision for certain sexual offenses committed after October 1, 2014, and imposes restrictions on probationers/conditional releasees from accessing pornographic or sexually stimulating material.
